Southeastern Louisiana Univeristy in Hammond was founded in 1925 as Hammond Junior College but grew to earn University status in 1970. Entering the 2011 school year, SLU has approximately 15,000 students enrolled, with a student body that represents over 40 states and more than 60 countries. At one point in the 90's, Southeastern LA was the fastest-growing college in the entire nation. SLU has also developed a proud reputation around the state for its efforts to encourage high school students to continue on to study at a University level.
At Southeastern Louisiana, students will select their courses and programs from Colleges of Arts, Humanities &amnp; Social Sciences, Business, Education & Human Development, Nursing & Health Sciences and Science & Technology. The University also offers Blackboard Online courses, making earning an education from SLU more convenient. The University also offers Learning Centers in Baton Rouge (Nursing), Livingston Parish (Literacy & Technology), St. Tammany and Turtle Cove (Research).
