Great News for Today’s Students

On June 2nd, 2011, the United States Department of Education passed new legislation which was favorable to not only certain schools, such as Kaplan University, South University and the University of Phoenix, but quite possibly even more so for the hundreds of thousands of students continuing their Education in these institutions.

For some time now, there has been some debate between the Department and President Obama over whether or not the students enrolled in these schools should be eligible to receive Federal Funding. After yesterday’s decision was announced, we can all breathe easier knowing that not only is the existing aid being distributed is safe, but for years to come students looking to advance their Education in this fashion will be able to receive the same help as so many of their counterparts in different types of institutions.

If you’ve been on the fence about going back to school, you should see this as an opportunity. While the four largest factors that keep men and women in our nation from furthering their Education are Family, Work, Time and Money, these types of schools offer a very viable solution to each of those.

By giving students the chance to study particular courses, and in many cases entire programs, exclusively online, these institutions are opening up a certain amount of flexibility, making it easier for men and women with full-time careers and family obligations to squeeze in some study time without having to factor in some of the traditional down-sides such as travel and time spent away from home.

“Sure, the time is much closer to resolved, but how can I pay for it?”

I’m glad you asked. Not only do many of these types of schools offer lower tuition rates than many of their counterparts, especially campus-based, traditional institutions, but thanks to legislation such as what was announced yesterday, Federal Funding will remain available. In fact, students looking to piece it all together and find a way to continue their Learning Experience can find plenty of tips and tricks in our Financial Aid section.
